Built to outperform the regulations, and to outlast them.
A luxury home should be quiet, warm in February and cool in July, and cost very little to run. We design and build to a fabric-first, low-energy standard influenced by Passivhaus — without imposing a Passivhaus aesthetic.
The technical specification we bring to every commission.
Fabric-first specification
We design the thermal envelope before the services. Walls are typically built to U-values of 0.15 W/m²K or better, with continuous insulation and rigorously detailed junctions to eliminate cold bridging.
Air-tightness, tested
Every new build and major extension we deliver is tested for air leakage before plasterboard goes on, and again on completion. We target below 3.0 m³/h/m² on extensions and below 1.5 on new builds — well ahead of Building Regulations.
Mechanical ventilation with heat recovery
MVHR is specified as standard on new builds and substantial refurbishments. Filtered fresh air, low running cost and the silent comfort that only a balanced ventilation strategy delivers.
Ground-source & air-source heating
Where the site allows, ground-source heat pumps with horizontal slinkies or vertical boreholes are our preferred heat source. Air-source remains the practical choice on tighter urban plots.
Glazing & solar control
Triple-glazed timber-aluminium frames as standard on new builds; warm-edge double-glazing on retrofits. Solar control coatings, brise-soleil and external blinds are coordinated with the architectural intent.
Renewable energy & storage
Roof-integrated photovoltaic, battery storage and EV charging are designed in from day one, with the consumer unit and ducting sized for future expansion.
Smart-home integration
Lutron, Crestron and Loxone systems are wired in by our specialist partners. Lighting, heating, blinds, audio, security and access are unified under a single, considered control layer.
Water, drainage and rainwater
Low-flow sanitaryware as standard. Rainwater harvesting to WCs, irrigation and external taps where the site supports it. Permeable driveways and SuDS strategies for flood resilience.
Performance without compromise on character.
Listed and period homes cannot, and should not, be brought to new-build performance levels. Vapour-permeable materials, secondary glazing, breathable insulation and careful draught-proofing transform comfort without trapping moisture in old walls.
On new builds and substantial extensions, we will openly model the cost-benefit of GSHP versus ASHP, triple versus double glazing, and PV scale versus battery sizing — and recommend the route that actually pays back in your home, on your site.
